In 2015, the Industry-Education Council (IEC) of Hamilton in partnership with Software Hamilton were invited to apply to the Hamilton Community Foundation’s ABACUS grant to further develop a pilot program called Hamilton Code Clubs. We were awarded a three year grant, allowing us to deliver our program to students in Grades 6-8.
This program provides enhanced activities and resources, compared to our 6-week introduction modules, allowing our team to make a 3-year commitment to 18 local elementary schools. Our end goal? To create a spark of interest which will fuel an educational and career pathway within the Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) sector.
